Chakra Pairs: Root Chakra and Third Eye Chakra (Muladhara & Ajna)

The word 'chakra' in Sanskrit loosely translates to the English word 'wheel'. A chakra point is a concentrated center of energy within the body and we have been focusing on the seven main chakras throughout this year. Our third and final chakra pair of our series focuses on the root chakra (muladhara) and the third eye chakra (ajna). At the base of our spine is our root chakra, which helps us to stay grounded, safe and supported on Earth. Our third eye chakra is located around our forehead at the space between the eyebrows and connects us both to our intuition and a spiritual plane of existence. This chakra pair is fun because we get to explore what is physically present through our root chakra, as well as imagine what could be beyond this reality by opening our minds to our third eye.

Expect a general overview of the chakra system, time for discussion and reflection on this chakra pair, a gentle physical practice, and calming meditation. Attendance at prior sessions or previous knowledge is not at all necessary! Everyone is welcome to explore.

Partner Yoga

**Pricing reflects two participants/pair

The word 'yoga' means union in Sanskrit, and this is exactly what partner yoga aims to achieve - a uniting of two people. Whether you want to share a unique date night, enjoy a non-competitive physical activity, or just connect more deeply, we encourage you to join us for Partner Yoga.  This is an adult yoga class and is for students 13 and up only.

Yin and Yoga Nidra Workshop w/ Misa
Start your weekend with time for gentle movement, long held stretches, supported postures and a guided meditation designed to give you space to reflect, restore and just be. Learn how to prepare the body for meditation and how to quiet the mind to become more receptive and to increase the quality of your sleep.

Yin is a physical practice of letting go of tension in the body through grounding poses that are held for longer periods of time to allow access to layers deeper than muscle such as fascia, connective tissues and joints. It is a true challenge for the mind to sit in stillness so the body can open.

Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice that utilizes the five energetic layers (koshas) to access the hypnagogic state, the state we're in between wakefulness and sleep. Through awareness of the physical, energetic and mental layers, we can become most receptive to intuition and learning. We do this through a body scan, a focus on breath and visualizations. Delve into 90 minutes of bliss to prepare yourself for the week ahead.

In this winter edition, we will focus on nourishment and nurturing of the self. We'll use lots of props for extra support in each shape to help us open up and allow for greater flow of energy. We will focus on ways we can care for ourselves deeply and purposefully to give us the rest we all need in order to thrive in our everyday lives. There will be plenty of time for breathwork, contemplation and true rest as we work to calm the nervous system and mind. Leave with a sense of how to foster and maintain nourishment and nurture in your everyday life this winter season and beyond.

This is an adult yoga class and is for students 13 and up only.

This workshop offers a deeply restorative Yoga Nidra practice focused on nervous system regulation and rest.

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practiced lying down and is accessible to all bodies and experience levels. If participants enjoyed the Regulate & Restore session in November, this workshop will feel like a natural continuation, though attending that session is not a prerequisite.

Participants will be guided through breath awareness, body sensing, and grounding imagery to promote relaxation and recovery.

No prior yoga or meditation experience is required. Come as you are!

The Bhagavad Gita Workshop: The Four Paths of Yoga

January 10: Karma Yoga (Yoga of Action)

April 11: Bhakti Yoga (Yoga of Devotion)

July 11: Jnana Yoga (Yoga of Wisdom)

October 10: Raja Yoga (Yoga of Meditation)

This four-part series explores the four paths of yoga, as taught in the Bhagavad Gita. The Bhagavad Gita is an ancient Indian text and is written in the form of a conversation between student and teacher. Throughout the text, teacher Krishna exchanges dialogue with student Arjuna about the mysteries of life and how to live life aligned with inner values.

Krishna outlines four paths of yoga, including karma, bhakti, jnana, and raja. Karma yoga is the yoga of action. Bhakti yoga is the yoga of devotion. Jnana yoga is the yoga of wisdom. Raja yoga is the yoga of mediation. Someone who is a karma yogi might devout their life to service, such as being a teacher or a counselor. Someone who is a bhakti yogi might perform spiritual music or have a regular practice of prayer. Someone who is a jnana yogi might study spiritual texts. Someone who is a raja yogi may have found their way to meditation.

The Bhagavad Gita serves as a guidebook for a student who is searching for meaning and purpose in their life. This workshop is intended for anyone who is curious about turning inward on their path of self-discovery. Everyone is encouraged to consider what path they are already on, and how they can cultivate an increased sense of self awareness and intention in their life moving forward.

In each class, a general overview of all paths will be offered, and we will spend time exploring one specific path in more depth. Class will include time for education and discussion, a physical practice, and intention setting. Feel free to bring a journal, a friend, or both! No experience or prior knowledge or reading is necessary!

Headstand Workshop

Come get upside down! Join returning teacher, Rachael Holmes, for an in-depth exploration of Headstand (Sirsasana). Headstand is touted by many schools of yoga as one of the most impactful postures to practice on a regular basis.

Respiratory & circulatory systems get strengthened, low back pressure gets relieved, and it is a natural tonic to nervous disorders, such as anxiety.

Welcome to all practitioners, whether new to the practice & curious to learn more, or advanced & looking for headstand variations, & everything in between.

Pranayama (Breathwork) Workshop 2-Part Series

Ever wonder about the supposed ‘miracles’ yogis of yore, and present-day sadhus, could perform? Autobiography of a Yogi & other such texts often reference yogis who can perform unimaginable feats. While we will not be performing miracles, yet, in this workshop…we will begin to access the power source these yogis were accessing – Prana. Prana translates as ‘life force’, and is the primary factor in energy levels, clarity, stability, and even superhuman accomplishments. Prana is directed with one's thoughts & intentions, and it is an accessed and controlled most easily with the breath.

In this 2-part Pranayama workshop, we will first learn the fundamentals of proper breathing & the practice of pranayama, including finding a comfortable seat for practice. Then we will dive into specific practices that help one to store more prana in the body (resulting in greater sustained energy levels), balance the prana (calming the nervous system), and more.

This is an adult yoga class open to students ages 14 and up.
